In this 4-hour live virtual training course, learn how to apply AI directly inside FME Form connecting to Vision AI services, structuring outputs as clean JSON, and building the kind of agentic, self-checking workflows that are changing how spatial data gets processed. Guided by Locus experts and FME Certified Trainers, you’ll work through four hands-on exercises that build on each other from your first Vision AI call right through to spatial partitioning techniques that reduce API costs and improve performance at scale.

This course is suitable for all FME experience levels. Whether you’re new to AI or have already experimented with it, you’ll leave with working techniques you can apply to your own data pipelines immediately.

Course Outcomes

By the end of this training, you’ll be able to:

  • Call Vision AI services from FME Form and interpret the responses
  • Structure AI outputs as clean, usable JSON for downstream processing
  • Apply agentic AI patterns including reflective AI to build self-correcting workflows
  • Use spatial partitioning to target AI analysis at the areas that matter, reducing cost and improving speed
  • Combine multiple AI providers within a single FME workspace

Skills You Will Gain

  • Connect FME Form to AI services including OpenAI and Gemini with techniques that can be used using Any AI
  • Build workspaces that handle structured AI outputs in JSON format
  • Apply agentic AI design patterns, including Reflective AI for automated quality assurance
  • Use spatial partitioning methods including grids, tiles, and polygons to control where and how AI is applied
  • Manage API costs and rate limits through intelligent batching and filtering
  • Build workflows that are modular, repeatable, and production-ready

What You Will Learn

AI in the FME Platform
An introduction to how FME connects with AI services such as OpenAI and Google Gemini, which extends across Anthropic, Amazon Bedrock, Azure, and Vertex AI.

Structured Response Outputs
Move beyond free-text AI responses. Learn how to prompt for structured JSON outputs and map them cleanly into FME attributes.

Agentic AI
Understand the principles behind agentic AI, autonomous task execution, dynamic decision-making, and multi-step adaptive processes and how FME simplifies the build.

Spatial Partitioning
Learn why processing large spatial datasets with Vision AI is expensive and slow and how spatial partitioning solves it by targeting AI analysis only where it’s needed.

Who’s This For

This training is ideal for:

  • FME users who want to put AI to practical use in their workspaces and automated workflows
  • Spatial and non-spatial data professionals working with imagery, land use, or asset data
  • Developers, analysts and managers looking to automate quality assurance using AI
  • Anyone curious about agentic AI but wanting hands-on FME-specific guidance
